SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Google search has become one of the most important tools people use online.
When your website shows up on the first page of search engines for certain keywords the traffic on your site will jump leaps and bounds. This traffic can be turned into new customers, sales, more phone calls, increased likes on social media, and more!
An easy way to optimize your website for search engines is simply to get more words on your website.
Search engines reward content length looking for pages with 2,000 to 2,500 words.
This can be done in a few ways. The easiest way is to start a blog! Blog posts can easily hit 2,000 words. When you begin your blog post decide on a few keywords you want to focus on with the blog post and variances of those keywords. For example, when people search for a doctor they might use the search term doctor or primary care or physician. Make sure to include all these keywords in your blog post multiple times.
Another way to optimize your website for search engines is by adding pages to your current website. For example, if you have a page that lists your services and includes information on those services, you could break down each service into a separate page. On each of these pages you could include more content, trying to hit that 2,000 words content length, about each service.
Always try to keep the consumer in mind first and think about search engines second. Your customers are visiting your website to find more information about your business and services. They will appreciate having more information readily available on your website. Any question a customer could have you want to answer about your business and services on your website. This is why Google and other search engines reward sites with more content length. Their algorithms know users are wanting to find information on what they are searching for so their search engines should show web pages with greater content.
Another great tool for Search Engine Optimization is inbound links. Inbound links are links to your website and web pages from other websites. Anywhere your business can be found online should have a link to your website. For example, each of your company’s social media pages, like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, and Google Plus, should link to your website homepage. Links from your own social media do not receive the same weight in Google’s algorithm as websites not associated with your company, but it is still an easy step you can take to help with optimizing your website.
If you are ever interviewed for a newspaper or magazine the articles will probably be published on their websites as well. Make sure when talking about your stores or offices you also mention your website with the exact url. Even ask the interviewer if they can link to your website. Online news websites receive a high amount of traffic and this matters for inbound links. The greater traffic the website that links to yours receives the more it helps your SEO.
